| Hello! I am thrilled to be back as the publisher/editor of Seattle’s Child, publishing under the new ownership of the Washington Post Company. When I founded Seattle’s Child in 1979, it was the first local parenting publication in the country. For almost three decades, parents in this community have looked to us as a trusted source for information and support. Now we are an even stronger team. In addition to Newsweek magazine and The Washington Post newspaper, The Washington Post Company has a long commitment to community newspapers, including a presence here in Washington for over 24 years with the publication of The Herald daily newspaper in Snohomish County, The Enterprise newspapers serving communities in South Snohomish/North King counties and most recently, La Raza, a Seattle-wide weekly newspaper serving the Hispanic population. What we share in common is a commitment to the highest standards of journalism, community involvement and customer service. We’ve been busy since the Post purchased Seattle’s Child and Puget Sound Parent. Our first action was to combine the two newspapers under the flagship name, Seattle’s Child. Second, we increased circulation to 80,000 to better serve parents and advertisers. Third, we improved our format and paper stock to make the magazine even easier and more enjoyable to read. Fourth, we started the process of making our content even more relevant and essential to today’s parents, and fifth, we began applying our resources and experience to launching an improved website in the coming months in order to meet the Internet needs of our readers and advertisers. I am honored to have the opportunity to combine my editorial vision and community history with the Post’s vast resources and experience in order to create a great future for Seattle’s Child. Your loyalty and willingness to work with us as we begin this new phase is deeply appreciated. Please drop me an e-mail to let me know how we can do an even better job. If you’d like more information about how to be in our paper you can send us an email to advertise@seattleschild.com or call us at 206-441-0191 I hope you enjoy Seattle Child’s stories, and I look forward to working with you again. Ann Bergman
