Can You Dig It? Geology Adventures for Families
There’s nothing kids like better than poking around in caves or digging in the dirt, especially if there are treasures to be found. Join a geologist for a tour of the country’s longest lava tube, an accessible fossil-digging site, giant mounds of mystery, a petrified forest and a mining claim where kids can dig for gemstones. Want to explore further? Find a list of kid-friendly rock clubs and other resources.

Boats, Planes, Cars and Trains
Places to Explore Things that Go

Children are fascinated with “things that go,” and the greater Puget Sound area has plenty of places to satisfy their curiosity. Discover cargo ships, historic and new hydroplanes, pioneer airplanes and space rockets, classic cars and steam trains. Come along for the ride(s).

Go West: Explore the Kitsap Peninsula
Take a trip to the west side of the Puget Sound to find one-of-a-kind museums exploring Native American life and our maritime and Naval heritage, as well as beautiful parks, the state’s oldest lighthouse, exquisite gardens, charming shopping towns and places to ride bikes and rent boats.
