Destination PLAY!
With the longer days of summer, it’s time to explore beyond your
neighborhood playground and discover some of King and Snohomish County’s
gems. Join us on a tour of 17 great play spaces, including ones with cable
rides, wading pools, forts, salmon slides, whales, lighthouses, castles
and lions – not to mention surrounding animal farms, beaches, trails
and outdoor pools. If you’re flying anywhere this summer, you’ll
appreciate the new play space at Sea-Tac Airport. Plus, get a chance to
help build a new playground in Kirkland.
Small School Models Community
Service
Puget Sound Community School provides an example of community service
as an integral part of the curriculum. The 28 students racked up more
than 2,000 volunteer hours this academic year, and much of their work
was self-directed.
Summer Reading
In our annual summer reading section, get ready
for programs at local libraries organized around the theme “Paws,
Claws, Scales and Tales” and “Read, Sing and Dance.”
Find out why it’s so important to read to your child – and
how to help children who cannot afford books of their own. Read about
three new multi-cultural books from local authors in Seattle’s
Child Reads.
