Calendar Highlights

Ewww – Gross!

Did you know that more than 100,000,000 micro-creatures live in your mouth? That the hydrochloric acid in your stomach is so strong that it can eat up stainless steel razor blades? Or that a sneeze will shoot out of your nose at 100 mph? Pacific Science Center’s exhibit Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body features interesting facts about science, health and the human body. Based on Sylvia Branzei’s bestselling children’s book, Grossology, the exhibit features more than 20 interactive displays that reveal embarrassing and funny things that usually aren’t spoken of in polite society.

10am-5pm weekdays, 10am-6pm weekends through May 6. Included with admission. $10, $8.50 seniors, $7 ages 3-12, IMAX and laser shows extra. Pacific Science Center, 200 Second Ave. N, Seattle. 206-443-2001. www.pacsci.org.

If you’d like to double the gross-factor, visit Pacific Science Center 10am-6pm Feb.17-19 for the annual Gross Out event. Grossology author Sylvia Branzei demonstrates how to create edible fake poop, barf and snot. Dr. Doo from Woodland Park Zoo showcases animal poo. Visitors can also watch owl pellet dissections, enter a belching contest, have boogers drawn on their faces and sample goodies made with insects.
