This exhibit at The Children's Museum, Seattle is just like a visit to the set of Fred Rogers' television show. First stop is Mister Rogers' Television House, where kids can look through the front window, sit on the porch swing and try on a sweater just like Mister Rogers'. Next is the Neighborhood Trolley, a full-sized replica with levers to pull and a wheel to turn - a good place to read about the history of the Neighborhood. Last stop is the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, where kids can visit the Castle, play dress-up, stage a puppet show with the familiar Neighborhood puppets, or visit Lady Elaine Fairchild's Museum Go-Round for more hands-on activities. Fred Rogers died three years ago, and it's been five years since the
last original Mister Rogers' Neighborhood television program
was broadcast, but the show continues to be aired (locally on KCTS, 11:30am
Mondays through Fridays). This exhibit is a reminder of how Fred Rogers
infused children's programming with kindness, understanding and grace.
