January 2008 Parent Education Seattle Area Mommy Running Lessons. Getting back into a healthy exercise routine after giving birth is hard. In between the feedings, diaper changes and endless responsibilities, it’s not easy to fit in mommy-time. Running coach Beth Baker (aka Coach Beth) has been there. After giving birth to her son in November 2006, she got back into running and lost 50 pounds of baby weight gain. Realizing that running can be hard and scary, and that navigating big jogging strollers can be intimidating, Baker was inspired to start her new business, Mommy Running Group Lessons. It is a way to get moms moving again, and to bring their babies along if they want. She offers lessons and encouragement to moms of all fitness levels, starting them off walk-running and gradually working up to more strenuous activity. The lessons take place at various Seattle locations; each location is chosen in part by its proximity to swing sets so that after the sessions toddlers can unwind and moms can talk. Classes meet at noon on Mondays at Hiawatha Park in West Seattle, 10am Tuesdays at Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill, and 10:30am Wednesdays at various Seattle locations. Register online. $40 for four sessions or $100 for eight weeks of unlimited sessions. Individual coaching is also available. 206-291-7513. http://sahm.meetup.com/2304. www.runningevolution.com.
