January 2008 Calendar Highlights Snowshoe Mount Rainier Ranger-led snowshoe walks are offered on Mount Rainier 12:30 and 2:30pm Saturdays and Sundays through April. Sign ups begin one hour before each walk, and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Wear warm clothing, waterproof boots, sunglasses and sunscreen; snowshoes provided. Ages 8 and older. $1 donation requested for use of snowshoes. Visitor Center open 10am-5pm, food service available. Mummies Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs is currently playing at Pacific Science Center's IMAX Theater. Take a trip to Egypt in this film that explores the ancient practice of mummification – how it was done, where the royal mummies were hidden, and how they were rediscovered in modern times. comes from? This exhibit at Washington State History Museum features 100
small works of original art used to create postal stamps. Included is
the art for “Elvis Presley,” the most popular stamp ever,
plus two original Norman Rockwell pieces. 10am-5pm Tuesdays-Sundays (10am-8pm
